I was born and raised in Denmark by parents who came from Türkiye as immigrants. I currently work as a news anchor at DR1, Danish Broadcasting Corporation. I was a USA correspondent, stationed in Washington DC and I’ve travelled throughout the Middle East. I covered the tsunami in South Asia in 2004, the major earthquakes in Pakistan in 2005 and in Türkiye in 2023 and the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. I have a natural connection to Türkiye due to my heritage, and I’ve travelled extensively in the country covering elections and the military coup attempt in 2016 to mention a few.

I was a news anchor on DR2 Udland, a daily foreign affairs programme and Krigens Døgn, a weekly programme focusing on the tactical and strategic military developments in Ukraine.

I speak Danish, English, Turkish, German and the other Nordic languages Swedish and Norwegian. I have a masters degree in Danish and Journalism from Roskilde University.
